Good floors deserve
a second chance.

Damage, worn traffic lanes and visible signs of use do not automatically mean that a floor has to be replaced. After a sound assessment, existing material can often be made visible and functional again.

Our focus is exclusively on floor surfaces: representative entrances, private homes and long-term commercial areas.

Specialist restoring a high-quality floor surface

Matched to
the material.

The condition, mineral composition, structure and use determine the suitable approach. We assess marble, granite, sandstone, travertine, limestone, slate, terracotta, terrazzo, engineered stone, screed, resilient floors and wood.

  • Natural stone: marble, granite, sandstone, travertine, limestone and slate
  • Mineral and ceramic floors: terracotta, terrazzo, engineered stone and screed
  • Resilient and organic floors: PVC, linoleum, rubber and wood
  • A photo and approximate area are sufficient for an initial material-related discussion
What a floor

What a floor
can tell us.

Dull traffic lanes, scratches, stains, chips and uneven grinding patterns each need their own assessment. The visible condition, access and intended use determine whether cleaning, repair, grinding, polishing or protection is appropriate.

  • Dull traffic lanes and abrasion
  • Scratches and visible processing marks
  • Stains or discolouration
  • Chips, joints and local defects
  • Uneven surface appearance
Step by step

Step by step
to a durable surface.

We first assess the existing floor and then coordinate preparation, processing and the intended finish. Technical suitability is always confirmed for the individual property.

  • Assess material, damage, use and construction
  • Prepare the floor and secure local defects
  • Restore, repair, polish or protect as appropriate
  • Discuss care and return to use

The key points for a reliable initial orientation.

Can scratches on a natural-stone floor be removed?01

Fine scratches, traffic wear and an uneven sanding pattern can often be improved through a suitable treatment, depending on the stone, surface and available wear layer. Deep scratches, edges or damaged joints require separate assessment. Only the material, condition and desired appearance show whether cleaning, sanding, repair or another measure is appropriate.

Can acid etching on marble or limestone be removed?02

Acidic liquids and unsuitable cleaners can chemically alter acid-sensitive stones such as marble, limestone or travertine. These dull patches are often not surface dirt. Whether the appearance can be improved through a material-appropriate treatment is assessed from the stone type, depth of alteration, area and existing finish.

Does sanding a natural-stone floor create a lot of mess?03

The process is planned around the material, property and use. For many natural-stone surfaces, dust-bound wet treatment can be considered; water, slurry and the required cleaning are included in preparation. Access, adjoining areas, furniture, sensitive uses and disposal are clarified for the specific property. A completely impact-free process cannot be promised without assessment.

Can stains or care films simply be wiped away?04

Not every visible change sits only on the surface. Care films, calcareous residues or unsuitable cleaning products require a different approach from absorbed stains or an altered mineral surface. A material-specific assessment helps avoid a product that worsens the condition or merely conceals it temporarily.

Does damaged natural stone always need complete replacement?05

No. A dull, scratched or locally damaged natural-stone surface does not automatically need replacement. Depending on the assessment, cleaning, coordinated sanding, local repair or a protective treatment can be considered. Whether a partial solution is suitable depends on the stone, substrate, damage, adjacent areas and the realistically achievable result.

Which details help with an initial assessment of a natural-stone floor?06

Helpful information includes daylight photos, approximate area, stone type or a comparison image, use, visible scratches or etching, and earlier care or cleaning products. For larger properties, access, floors, operating hours and possible work sections also help. This supports a suitable next-step assessment for the individual property.

Which materials and property conditions are assessed before natural-stone or floor restoration?07

First, the material, visible condition, existing build-up and use of the area are assessed. For natural stone, terrazzo, cast concrete stone or screed, the treatment and its limits can differ depending on the surface; resilient or wood floors may require a different refurbishment system. Existing coatings, wear layer, access and adjoining areas are also considered before an appropriate approach is identified.

Can I send an enquiry for natural-stone or floor restoration in Potsdam or Berlin if the floor type is still unclear?08

Yes. SteinWert has its only company location in Potsdam, and Berlin is an important service area. Clear photos, the approximate area, use and a description of the visible issue help with an initial assessment. If the floor type is not certain, a selection or comparison only serves as guidance; final classification takes place after the surface has been reviewed.
